In a pandemic of global proportions, how can we create artistic work forms that enable collaboration and creative exchange? This was the question driving the initiative Processos Criativos a Distância (Creative Processes at a Distance), organized by the Goethe-Institutes in South America, which promoted new forms of creative exchange at a distance with artists from the continent.
The project “Dançaremos a Distância I” explored distance and the absence of the other as a condition for encounter in the creative process of dance, particularly within the context of the pandemic.
The artists thus posed the question: If we were dancing simultaneously at two points on the globe, why wouldn't we, even at a distance, be dancing in the same space? To explore this issue, they carried out a remote task program throughout the duration of the project. On the project's Instagram page (@dancaremos.a.distancia), they posted several "pills" of the entire process – short poetic images and documentation. In the mini-documentary, they summarize the experience.
